Skillful Talent Series Is Now SHRM-Certified!
We are pleased to announce that our Skillful Talent Series trainings, which help organizations transition to skills-based employment practices, are now certified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)!
SHRM provides continued education for its two certifications: SHRM-Certified Professionals (SHRM-CP®) and SHRM-Senior Certified Professionals (SHRM-SCP®). To maintain certification, participants need 60 hours of professional development credits (PDCs).
Skillful Talent Series’ certification means that SHRM-certified professionals who attend the trainings can receive five credits towards their 60 hours of PDCs.
Skillful Talent Series’ SHRM certification comes as unemployment rates are at historic lows. In December, 2018, the U.S. economy added 312,000 jobs, beating year-end expectations. This economic growth is a healthy sign for the economy, but it requires employers to find innovative ways to fill the high demand for skilled workers. Not only are businesses dealing with a skills gap but they’re also struggling with retention rates. From July to September, 2018 2.4 percent of the U.S. workforce voluntarily quit their jobs, the fastest rate since 2001.
Traditional hiring practices exacerbate employers’ talent challenges: too often, they create barriers to employment for capable applicants.
If your business has relied on using pedigree to make hiring decisions, consider attending one of our Skillful Talent trainings. These trainings, available in Colorado and online, walk employers through the process of hiring great talent for their skills and retaining them.
The Skillful Talent Series trainings are one of the Skillful’s employer resources, designed to help employers break away from traditional, outdated hiring methods, which overly rely on proxies for skills like degrees, previous titles, years of experience, and subjective evaluation. Skills-based employment practices focus instead on skills in the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training processes. These practices can help organizations:
- Reduce time-to-hire
- Deepen the talent pool
- Improve employee retention
- Increase diversity
